Clubs

So far I have had the pleasure of being a part of three clubs at Auburn and have cherished the memories and knowledge I gained through being a part of them.

AU Modeling Board

In my junior year, I joined and became a part of the AU Modeling Board to develop elegance and grace in how I hold myself and to meet really cool people who I could build friendships with.

Roundnet Club

My freshman year I had joined forces with another student and helped create the Auburn Roundnet Club. I fell in love with spikeball as a sport in high school because of how intimate the games were and how accessible they could be to newcomers. My friends and I would spend our nights playing spikeball and inviting in new people with spikeball as the way of breaking the ice. This continued on through college and once we created the club I had the privilege of serving as the Vice President of the Roundnet club for a year and then briefly as the Treasurer. What started as a some friends playing spikeball became a small university club with no real standing and in the past three years has grown into an official Auburn University competitive club sport that competes in tournaments across the Southeast. I have since stepped away from the club as my time became more limited and I wanted to fully invest in another opportunity that arose, but I look back at my time in the Roundnet club fondly.

UPC

My freshman year I wanted to get a taste of the world of events and serve people through providing a fun and memorable night of fun that was not part of the Greek life on campus. I accomplished this in part by joining and serving as a member of the University Planning Committee, specifically, the Tiger Nights division. Our committee was responsible for putting on late night activities for Auburn University students to provide safe and alcohol-free environments that would become a lasting memory in their time at Auburn. We held a fall festival with inflatables, axe throwing, ziplines, fried Oreos, and pumpkin painting; a silent disco; a casino night; indoor roller-skating; as well as the first ever Magnolia Ball which was held inside the Auburn Hotel and Conference Center. I had the privilege of setting up and taking down these events as well as operating different stations at these events and greeting , welcoming and socializing with the attendees to ensure that they had an enjoyable time and were felt like they were more than just a name on the attendance list. I had my eyes opened to the challenging but rewarding world that is ‘tabling on the concourse’. I learned how to promote events and engage passersby’s whose attitudes ranged from actively disengaged to at best mildly interested and try and see why they should care about what we were promoting. The time spent on the Haley Concourse taught me more than I care to admit and it made seeing the turnout at our events so much more fulfilling when I was able to greet people I had personally invited and promoted arrive. That one-two punch of a random invitation turning into a face lighting up as they experience what they were told about is very rewarding and holds a special place in a my heart.
